Bootleg Racing League | Season 33 | Round 2
Outlaw Modified Series | Hickory Motor Speedway

Hickory Motor Speedway played host to yet another thrilling installment of the Bootleg Racing League Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series, and it was James Tiernan with Elbows Up Simsport who emerged victorious, showcasing his formidable skills.

The evening’s racing action kicked off with Bobby Hayes leading the pack from the coveted pole position. However, Tiernan, starting from the ninth position, wasted no time making his presence felt on the track.

As the race got underway, it was Joe Segalla who seized the initiative, dethroning Hayes to claim the race lead. Yet, Segalla’s moment at the front was short-lived, as Bruce Pearson made a determined charge through the field, swiftly ascending to the lead and bringing Jeffery Hardin into the second position. Tiernan was already up to third place by this point, setting the stage for a thrilling battle.

Tiernan’s pace proved relentless as he quickly closed the gap on Pearson and executed a flawless maneuver to snatch the lead on lap 20. The dominance of Tiernan on the track was on full display, making it clear that challenging him was a daunting task.

The first caution of the night made an appearance on lap 35, reshuffling the field and inadvertently triggering a series of chaotic events that would punctuate the remainder of the race. Several drivers dialed up the aggression, leading to multiple collisions during short green flag runs towards the finish.

In the midst of this frenzied competition, Aiden Young began to make his presence felt, progressively working his way through the field from his sixth-place position. However, his charge was not without setbacks, as he ultimately lost the second position to Hardin on the final lap.

As the checkered flag waved, Tiernan stood unchallenged at the front, claiming yet another victory in his illustrious career. With this win, Tiernan now holds a slim three-point lead over Young as the series heads to Southern National Speedway for its next round on October 13th. The action will be broadcast live at 8:55 PM ET, exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network.
