BRL OUTLAWS S34 R5 Recap
02 February 2024
Bootleg Racing League | Season 34 | Round 5
Outlaw Modified Series | Kern Raceway
The Bootleg Racing League brought thrilling action to Kern Raceway with a special 100-lap feature in the Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series. This charity event, known as the Parker and Pals 100, supported Autism Speaks and featured intense racing action for a good cause. The race was broadcast live on the Virtual Grip Network and presented by the Skitter Creek Motorsports Group.
Jeff Sharp led the field to the green flag, quickly breaking away from the pack in the opening laps. Todd Liston secured the 2nd spot after a battle with Chris Davis. Meanwhile, JR Shepherd quietly made his way through the field, steadily advancing.
On lap 24, Liston caught up with Sharp, eventually passing him and claiming the lead. Shepherd, now inside the top 5, was a serious contender for the lead only a quarter of the way into the race. A caution on lap 29, involving Michael Goodman and John Wilson, set the stage for more intense racing.
Liston resumed the race in control, with Shepherd making a move for 2nd, eventually taking the lead on lap 36 around the outside. Jeffery Hardin climbed into the final podium spot, while a fierce battle for 5th ensued among multiple drivers.
As the laps wore on, tire wear became a significant factor, affecting those who had pushed hard in the early stages. A late-race caution involving Matt Hoose and Bruce Pearson intensified the competition for the final laps.
In a Green-White-Checkered finish, JR Shepherd crossed the finish line to claim victory. Aiden Young made a strategic move to secure the 2nd spot from Jeffery Hardin at the line. Liston maintained his points lead, now 10 points ahead of Hoose.
Next week, on Friday, February 9th, the Bootleg Racing League heads to Langley Speedway for round 6 of the Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series. Racing enthusiasts can catch all the action live at 8:55 PM ET on the Virtual Grip Network!
