BRL Late Model Invitational S27R10 | Oswego Speedway

by Tre Blohm

During Season 27 Round 10 at Oswego Speedway, the BRL’s first race at the venue, Tom Hilbert and Jeffery Hardin claimed the front row at the start. Hilbert took an early lead, but a slow start from Hardin allowed Donny Moore to seize the opportunity and also enabled Wilson to overtake Hardin. However, a caution on lap 2 brought the race to a temporary halt. Resuming on Lap 5, Hilbert and Moore led the pack. Hilbert managed a strong restart, while Wilson attempted to pass Moore for second place without success. At the same time, Hardin made an effort to overtake Moore for third but ultimately settled for 4th place. On Lap 35, Wilson succeeded in passing Hilbert to take the lead, with Hardin also managing to get past Hilbert to secure 2nd place.

Another caution emerged on Lap 62, and following the restart on Lap 68, Wilson promptly regained the lead, with Stephen Spies moving into 2nd place ahead of Hardin. Todd Liston also made a move to secure 3rd place. The battle for 4th place was fierce between Scott Negus and Joseph Snyder, with Negus ultimately emerging in 4th. On Lap 77, Spies claimed the lead from Wilson, and Liston swiftly secured 2nd place. Wilson found himself relegated to 3rd place.

The action continued with another caution on Lap 88, and when the race resumed on Lap 93, Spies and Wilson were at the front. Spies retained the lead, while Ruben Altice engaged in a side-by-side battle with Wilson to capture 2nd place. Negus then overtook Wilson to secure 3rd place and subsequently passed Altice to secure 2nd place on Lap 97. Another caution on Lap 98 set the stage for a gripping Green-White-Checker restart. Spies and Negus led the restart, with Spies maintaining the lead, but Negus ultimately secured 2nd place. Altice valiantly held onto 3rd place despite the challenge.

In a thrilling conclusion, Negus gained momentum and overtook Spies on the inside on the final lap to claim victory. Stephen Spies finished 2nd, and Ruben Altice finished a commendable 3rd.

The race at Oswego Speedway was filled with intense competition and dramatic moments. Don’t miss the next race on Saturday, September 14th at 9:10 PM ET, as the BRL Late Models take on Five Flags Speedway for the Season Finale.
