BRL Late Model Invitational S29R02 | Lanier National Speedway
Joseph Snyder and Bruce Pearson took the green flag for Season 29, Round 02 action at Lanier National Speedway. Snyder gained the advantage going into Turn 1, while Ruben Altice managed to sneak past Bruce Pearson to secure 2nd place. However, a caution on Lap 3 brought the field to a halt early in the race. When racing resumed on Lap 9, Snyder and Altice were at the front of the field again. Snyder pulled ahead, while Altice battled Pearson for the 2nd position. Altice successfully utilized the high line to maintain 2nd, forcing Pearson to settle for 3rd.
Another caution occurred on Lap 16. Racing resumed on Lap 21 with Snyder and Altice still in the lead. This time, they both had a nearly equal start, but a wreck on the restart caused another caution before leaving Turn 2. The race restarted once more on Lap 26, with Snyder and Altice again battling side by side in Turn 1. Snyder eventually cleared Altice, who then settled back into 2nd place, while Lowell Jewell climbed into 3rd.
On Lap 34, Altice looked inside Snyder and managed to pass him for the lead. Altice began to build a lead over Snyder. Another caution occurred on Lap 41. When racing resumed on Lap 45, Altice shot ahead, easily clearing the field as the top three quickly settled into single-file order. Spotlighted driver Scott Negus, who was already gaining positions, started applying pressure on Lowell Jewell for 3rd. They engaged in a side-by-side battle for several laps, but Negus eventually faded back as John Wilson looked to challenge for 4th. Negus made another attempt, this time getting inside Jewell and successfully passing him for 3rd place.
On Lap 89, Negus overtook Snyder for 2nd, but a caution came out just a lap later on Lap 90. Racing resumed on Lap 95 with Altice and Negus at the front. Altice cleared Negus for the lead, while Snyder attempted to make a move inside Negus but was unable to do so, as Negus maintained momentum on the outside line. Snyder settled into 3rd, facing pressure from Mark Hertzog.
Ruben Altice claimed victory in Round 2, marking his 2nd late model win. Scott Negus finished in 2nd place, successfully hitting the under as the spotlighted driver, while Mark Hertzog took 3rd.
