YYR Tour Modified Series S2R3 | Richmond Raceway
Tom Ogle and Ken Allen kicked off the YYR Tour Modified Series Season 2 Round 03 at Richmond in an exhilarating fashion. Ogle got off to a strong start, while Allen stayed on the outside, successfully taking a clear lane for second place. Rex Hoyle and Darryl Wineinger engaged in a fierce battle for third position. A caution came out on Lap 20, but racing resumed on Lap 25 with Ogle and Wineinger leading the pack. Jerry Isaacs made a bold move to pass Wineinger for second place after some contact, allowing Scott Negus to slip into third. Another caution on Lap 35 saw Ogle and Negus pit, resulting in Isaacs taking over first place for the restart. Hoyle and Brian Bianchi followed in second and third, respectively, as the race continued on Lap 39.
Isaacs quickly pulled ahead, maintaining a single-file formation for the rest of the field. On Lap 40, Ryan Pittman surged into third place after passing Hoyle, turning his attention to Isaacs, but the caution was waved again on Lap 44. Resuming on Lap 49, Isaacs held the lead with Hoyle and Pittman behind him. On Lap 57, Pittman overtook Hoyle for second and closed in on Isaacs, applying pressure for the lead. By Lap 59, Pittman took the lead from Isaacs after a thrilling side-by-side race out of Turn 2.
As the laps wound down, the top four cars built a two-second lead over the rest of the field. With 24 laps remaining, Isaacs attempted to retake the lead, making contact with Pittman, who then gave way to Hoyle. However, Pittman regained the lead but struggled on the exit of Turn 2, allowing Isaacs to claim first place once again, with Hoyle now in second and Pittman settling in third with 21 laps to go. Ogle was on the move, sneaking past Pittman with 15 laps remaining.
With just eight laps left, Isaacs lost control exiting Turn 4, and Hoyle attempted to capitalize, but their contact created chaos, resulting in a wreck that collected all three top three drivers and brought out the caution on Lap 93. Pittman, narrowly avoiding the pile-up, took the lead, but he then pitted for tires under caution, promoting Brian Bianchi to the top position, with Johnson and Wineinger following for the restart on Lap 98.
Bianchi launched ahead as the race resumed, with Wineinger challenging Johnson for second. Ultimately, Wineinger made the pass, but Bianchi held onto his lead, crossing the finish line first to secure the win for Season 2 Round 03. Darryl Wineinger finished second, while Brian Johnson claimed third.
