Get ready for a thrilling race as Ed Sprenger and Scott Negus lead the field to kick off Season 29 Round 08 at the iconic Southern National Speedway! As the green flag waved, Sprenger hit the loud pedal while Negus attempted a daring move on the outside. However, things got a bit dicey as Negus lost traction on the exit, settling back in line, and causing an early caution on Lap 2.
But don’t worry, the excitement resumed on Lap 7! Sprenger and Negus were back on it, with Sprenger making a phenomenal jump at the restart, forcing Negus to tuck in behind him. Meanwhile, Bruce Pearson was holding strong in 3rd, but Lowell Jewell was hot on his heels in 4th. The battle heated up as Jewell found an opening on Lap 16, diving inside of Pearson. Side by side they went for a nail-biting moment, but Jewell completed the pass, leaving Pearson to fend off John Heyn, who was gunning for 5th and successfully secured the position.
Lap 20 brought some drama, as Negus caught up with Sprenger. The tension escalated, and like a flash, Negus sped past Sprenger, taking the lead on Lap 21! Meanwhile, Heyn wasn’t done yet; he waged an epic battle against Pearson for 4th and emerged victorious by Lap 25! With a quarter of the race down, Negus and Sprenger had carved out a solid 1-second lead over Jewell in 3rd.
But hold on tight! A caution on Lap 34 had everyone on their toes. When racing resumed on Lap 40, Negus took off into the lead with Sprenger close behind. The crowd was buzzing with excitement as Jewell and Heyn went toe to toe for 3rd; Heyn tried to hold on outside, but Jewell showcased his dominance and slipped past.
As the action continued, Stephen Spies snagged 4th from Heyn, making his presence known. Spies then set his sights on Jewell, securing 3rd on Lap 47—what a move! James Lowe was not to be outdone, edging into the top 5 and battling Jewell furiously! Lowe made his way up to 2nd, overtaking Sprenger on Lap 61. Meanwhile, Spies was trying every trick in the book to pass Sprenger for 3rd, but Sprenger firmly shut the door on Lap 65.
The tension thickened with a caution on Lap 80, leading into a dramatic restart on Lap 88 with Negus and Lowe fighting for glory at the front. Negus took off again, while Lowe put up a solid fight from the outside, but a determined Adam Schoen hounded them in 3rd. This series aims to recreate the adrenaline-fueled excitement of the classic 1985 IROC, featuring the powerful iracing Cadillac CTS-V cars. Top champions from various leagues joined the fray, including OBRL, Red Light Racing (RLR), Bootleg Racing League (BRL), and YesterYear Racing (YYR).
Season 1 Round 1 dazzled fans with 15 elite drivers. J R Shepherd (BRL) thundered to pole position with Sean Foltz (OBRL) on his tail. Shepherd and Josh Robinson (OBRL) surged on the inside as the green flag waved, while Foltz and Brian Bianchi (YYR) mounted a fierce outside challenge. By Lap 2, Tom Ogle (OBRL) attempted a daring third line, showcasing the intense competition. The excitement peaked as they went three-wide at the finish line on Lap 4, with only fractions of a second separating them! A push from Lloyd Moore (OBRL) nudged him into the wall but miraculously did not cause a crash, although he lost crucial positions.
As the race unfolded, the drivers maintained heart-stopping three-wide action. On Lap 18, Robinson made a bold move, surging in front of Shepherd as Bianchi led the middle row. The middle line began to gain momentum, allowing Foltz to come alive in the mix. Pitting strategies on Lap 43 and subsequent green flag stops shuffled the deck, but soon Shepherd and Todd Liston (BRL) took charge, getting support from Jeffery Hardin (BRL) and Geoffery Souza (RLR), who quickly closed the gap.
With adrenaline pumping, Hardin leaped to the outside line on Lap 71, leading a fierce charge, but once again, Shepherd’s inside line fought back. The final laps saw intense trading of positions, with Shepherd slipping back as Liston made his move. It came down to a thrilling finish on the last lap; Hardin and Souza battled fiercely, bumping and trading paint as they raced to the line. BRL Late Model Invitational S29R07 | Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway
The excitement was palpable as Season 29 Round 07 thundered to life at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway! Ed Sprenger and Bruce Pearson took the front row, with Sprenger swiftly clearing Pearson off the start. But not for long! Pearson showcased his skill on turns 3 and 4, making a daring pass to lead the first lap.
However, a caution on Lap 2 brought the action to a brief halt. Once the green flag waved again on Lap 5, it was an explosive restart with Pearson and Sprenger leading the pack. Pearson launched ahead, while Sprenger battled Chris Davis for second place, ultimately holding him off as Davis settled in third.
Davis wasn’t done yet, though! He fired his engines on Lap 9, looking to get past Sprenger but got a bit loose and had to regroup. He made another bold attempt on Lap 16, getting under Sprenger in turns 3 and 4, but Sprenger’s momentum on the outside kept him ahead. A bump on the backstretch later, Davis finally snagged second, with James Lowe sliding up to third.
The plot thickened on Lap 24 when Davis went for the lead, diving inside Pearson, finally taking control on Lap 25. Lowe followed suit, displacing Pearson to second, leaving the former leader to fight for his position. Davis and Lowe began to stretch their lead, creating a one-second gap over third-place Pearson by Lap 31.
Just as it looked like they might pull away for good, caution struck again on Lap 43. The stage was set for a thrilling restart! On Lap 48, Davis and Lowe were back in the front, with Davis exploding off the line but Lowe quickly slid into second. Aiden Young wasn’t far behind, plotting his attack into third.
Lap 51 saw Lowe and Davis go head-to-head, exchanging fierce positions down the backstretch, and Lowe ultimately took the lead on Lap 52. Yet, the action paused again with a caution on Lap 53, setting up for exciting intensity when they returned to racing on Lap 57.
When the green flag dropped once more, Lowe leapt ahead while Davis ducked in to secure second from Young. But Young wasn’t backing down, battling Davis on Lap 66 to reclaim his position. Caution resumed on Lap 79, setting the scene for yet another restart on Lap 83.
As the race progressed, Lowe and Young maintained control until another caution on Lap 88 halted their momentum. With heightened anticipation, the restart on Lap 93 kept Lowe and Young in a fierce duel at the front. Lowe continued to fend off Young’s advances but not without a challenge.
The final showdown arrived with a Green-White-Checker finish. As Lowe and Young led the charge, it seemed Young faltered just enough for Davis to find his moment alongside him. But a surge off turn 2 let Young reclaim second, while Davis and Liston fought for third at the line.
In the thrilling conclusion, James Lowe claimed victory in Season 29 Round 07, with Aiden Young finishing in a nail-biting second and Chris Davis securing third just at the finish line. What an incredible race!
