On Saturday, March 15th, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series concluded season 38 under the lights at New Smyrna Speedway. Aiden Young entered the finale with a dominant 16-point lead over Donny Moore, putting him in prime position to clinch the championship before the green flag even waved. The battle for the race win, however, was far from decided. John Wilson and Brennan Myers led the field to green, with Young rolling off from sixth and Moore starting deeper in tenth, both looking to close out the season on a high note.

As the race got underway, Stephen Spies wasted no time making his presence known. Charging through the field in the early laps, Spies climbed into second place and immediately began pressuring Wilson for the top spot. However, his aggressive approach proved costly, as excessive tire wear forced him to back off just as challengers like Scott Negus and Young began making their own moves. With the front of the field tightening up, caution flew on lap 40, resetting the battle and shuffling the strategy game.

On the restart, Myers found himself in control of the lead while Spies attempted an outside charge, leaving the bottom lane wide open for Young to capitalize. The fight for positions intensified as James Lowe also entered the fray, challenging Young for third while Spies continued to work over Myers. With each passing lap, tire wear became a growing concern, and Spies soon found himself struggling again. His pace dropped off dramatically, stacking up the field behind him and creating close calls for Young and others as drivers scrambled to avoid losing positions.

Eventually, Spies fell back, allowing Young and Lowe to break free and set their sights on Myers at the front. As the race crossed the halfway mark, the intensity picked up, and Young made his move with 25 laps to go. Diving underneath Myers, he wrestled away the lead and immediately began putting distance on the field. Lowe followed into second, but with laps winding down, he couldn’t generate the momentum needed to mount a serious challenge. Young kept his composure in the closing circuits, managing his tires while maintaining a comfortable gap.

Coming out of the final corner, Young took the checkered flag, locking up both the race win and the season 38 championship in a fitting end to his dominant campaign. Moore crossed the line further back, unable to make up the points gap, solidifying Young’s status as the new titleholder.

On Sunday, March 9th, the OBRL YesterYear Racing Cup Series took on Phoenix Raceway for the fourth round of season 8. With the championship battle still in its early stages, Josh Robinson came into the night holding a 9-point lead over Jerry Isaacs, while the ever-competitive field looked to gain ground in the standings. Dan Hill put down the fastest qualifying lap of the night at 27.495 seconds, securing the pole position. However, an EOL penalty shuffled the front row, moving Tom Ogle into the top spot alongside Robinson for the green flag.

Right from the start, the race proved to be more chaotic than what we’ve seen from these drivers in previous rounds. Phoenix Raceway’s unique layout and tight racing conditions kept the field on edge, and early trouble found last week’s COTA winner, Cortney Nelson, who was caught in an unfortunate incident, sustaining heavy damage that would hinder his performance for the remainder of the event. The first half of the race was plagued by frequent cautions, with drivers struggling to find rhythm in the stop-and-go pace. With the field constantly bunched up on restarts, aggressive moves became risky, leading to even more yellow flags. The saying “cautions breed cautions” proved true as drivers fought to maintain track position while avoiding the ever-present danger of mid-pack chaos.

Despite the rough start, Ogle showed early dominance, setting a strong pace while the leaders settled into a single-file groove, content to let the laps tick away. However, the flurry of cautions created a mix of pit strategies. Some drivers opted to pit early for fresh tires, banking on long green-flag runs later in the race, while others gambled on staying out, anticipating more cautions that would keep tire wear in check. The strategy calls began to shake up the running order, with positions constantly changing depending on track position and pit timing.

The defining moment of the race came under caution on lap 89 when Andrew Kotska made a perfectly timed pit stop, executing flawlessly to rejoin the track in the lead for the restart on lap 92. This proved to be the advantage he needed. As the second half of the race transitioned into longer green-flag runs, Kotska settled into a smooth rhythm, making it difficult for the rest of the field to challenge him. Robinson, running in second, worked to close the gap, but Kotska maintained his composure and pace, ensuring that the defending points leader never got close enough to mount a serious attack.

As the laps wound down and the checkered flag neared, it became clear that Robinson wasn’t going to have enough speed to chase Kotska down. In the end, Kotska claimed his first victory of the season with a well-executed race, while Robinson secured second place, extending his championship lead to 28 points over Ogle, who finished fourth. With momentum shifting and the points battle taking shape, the series now heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for round five on Sunday, March 16th. On Saturday, March 8th, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Series rolled into South Boston Speedway for Round 10 of Season 38. With just two races left, Aiden Young of Gambler Motorsports came in with a commanding 21-point lead over Donny Moore, making his championship all but certain. However, Young made a surprising move before the green flag even waved—choosing to start from pit road rather than his 7th-place grid position, anticipating a chaotic race. That prediction proved to be spot on.

The action kicked off with Tom Hilbert and Donny Moore on the front row, but it didn’t take long for the first caution to fly—just two laps into the race. From there, it was a rough night for the field as yellow flags continued to stack up, making track position and restarts crucial. Moore took control early, but it quickly became clear that Chris Davis was the faster driver. As Davis reeled in Moore’s rear bumper, he found passing difficult, with Moore aggressively blocking to hold onto the lead.

Meanwhile, James Lowe, who had started deep in the pack, was methodically picking his way forward, capitalizing on other drivers’ mistakes and the constant restarts. After spending 19 laps bottled up behind Moore, Davis finally managed to get his nose underneath, but before he could complete the pass, a caution froze the field—handing Davis the lead without a fight.

From that point on, Davis controlled the race, keeping Moore at bay through multiple short green-flag runs. Behind them, Matt Hoose climbed into third and began pressuring Moore, trying to force a mistake. Lowe continued his charge, closing the gap and looking for an opportunity to move forward. That chance came in the second half of the race when Lowe attempted to squeeze inside Hoose, but contact sent Hoose hard into the outside wall, ending his night early.

With Hoose out, Lowe advanced to third and immediately set his sights on Moore. A late restart with 12 laps remaining gave Lowe a chance, but Moore defended well, maintaining second as Davis cruised to an unchallenged victory for Team CDR.

On Sunday, March 2nd, the OBRL YesterYear Racing Cup Series, presented by VCTRYLNSPRTS, took on the technical challenges of Circuit of the Americas for Round 3 of Season 8. Entering the night, Team Miata’s Josh Robinson held a slim four-point lead over Thomas Ogle, with a deep field of contenders looking to shake up the standings.

Cortney Nelson of Nelson-Hislop Racing wasted no time asserting his dominance, securing the pole with a blistering 1:37.378 lap time, joined by Daniel Hill on the front row. As the green flag waved, Nelson immediately launched into the lead, setting an unforgiving pace that left the rest of the field scrambling to keep up.

One of the biggest storylines of the night was series rookie Andrew Kotska, who started way back in 19th but quickly carved through the field, running some of the fastest laps of the race. After charging all the way up to third, Kotska made an aggressive early pit stop for fuel, looking to gain track position through strategy. He rejoined in seventh but crucially had enough fuel to make it to the end, banking on the long-run payoff.

Meanwhile, Nelson was locked into a different strategy—pushing hard and stretching his fuel as long as possible. Lap after lap, he continued to build a monstrous gap over Hill, extending his lead beyond 40 seconds before finally diving to pit road on lap 34. His near-perfect execution paid off, as he reentered the track still in the lead with a comfortable 13-second cushion over Hill.

As the race entered its closing stages, Kotska had climbed back into third and was rapidly reeling in Hill. But with Nelson still increasing his lead up front, the battle for second became the focal point. Hill defended aggressively, forcing Kotska to search for a way around, setting up a dramatic final lap.

As Nelson took the white flag well out of reach, Hill and Kotska approached lap traffic in the final corners. Contact nearly derailed both of their races, but they managed to recover, crossing the line in second and third, respectively, while Nelson sealed his dominant victory.

On Saturday, March 1st, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Series battled at Oswego Speedway for Round 9 of Season 38. Aiden Young entered the night with a 15-point lead over James Lowe, but the treacherous track conditions ensured that nothing would come easy.

Kurt Smith led the field to green from the pole, but the race quickly turned chaotic as cautions stacked up, preventing any long runs. Donny Moore wasted no time applying pressure for the lead, but frequent yellows stalled his momentum. Chris Davis also made moves through the field, securing third place before another caution reset the field.

On a lap 13 restart, Moore capitalized on a small opening left by Smith, diving to the inside to take the race lead. With cautions continuing to fall, Moore managed to conserve his tires while maintaining control at the front. Behind him, Scott Negus challenged Davis for second, but contact sent both drivers down the order, triggering yet another caution on lap 24.

Amidst the chaos, Brennan Myers methodically worked his way through the field, quietly climbing into second place by lap 30 after passing Smith. Sensing Moore was pushing his tires too hard, Myers remained patient, predicting more cautions while keeping the leader within reach. His strategy paid off—Moore’s aggressive driving took its toll, and Myers steadily reeled him in, effortlessly taking over the lead in the second half of the race.

With his tires fading, Moore struggled to maintain pace, falling back through the field. While multiple cautions helped him stay near the front, Myers executed flawless restarts, never allowing anyone to challenge him. Meanwhile, Young charged through the field, making his way up to third place as the laps wound down.

Just as the race appeared to be heading to a clean finish, contact between Young and Davis with four laps to go brought out another caution, setting up a dramatic green-white-checkered restart. However, before the field could take the white flag, a multi-car pileup in turns 3 and 4 brought out the yellow once again, ending the race under caution.

Brennan Myers officially secured his first career Outlaw SK Modified victory, surviving the attrition-filled event at Oswego. Aiden Young finished seventh but managed to extend his points lead to 16 over Lowe heading into the next round.

RLR SK MODIFIED SERIES S13 R8 Recap

On Thursday, February 27th, Red Light Racing’s Modifieds roared into USA International Speedway for Round 8 of Season 13. Eric Stout of Six Flags Racing entered the night with a commanding 32-point lead in the championship and wasted no time proving why, securing the pole position to kick things off.

The early laps saw multiple cautions, which played into Stout’s favor, helping him manage tire wear while keeping control at the front. AJ Hamel took full advantage of the restarts, quickly climbing into third place and setting his sights on the leaders. On a lap 13 restart, Hamel made an aggressive move to the inside of Kenny Allen, just as contact between Allen and Stout sent the points leader into trouble. Seizing the moment, Hamel shot past them both to take the lead under caution.

When racing resumed on lap 18, Stout—despite holding onto second—was visibly struggling with his damaged car, quickly falling down the running order. Allen held firm in second while Brian Bianchi advanced to third. As the race settled into a long green-flag stretch, Allen, Hamel, and Jeff Aho broke away from the pack, building a strong 2.5-second lead on the field. Aho, showing strong pace, made his move past Allen for second, setting his sights on Hamel at the front.

A caution in the second half of the race erased the leaders’ gap, shuffling the order as Aho inherited the lead while Hamel was knocked back to fifth. Brandon Feeney took over second place, but Allen quickly worked his way to the inside on the restart, sticking to Aho’s bumper to regain second before another caution halted the action. Restarting on the outside, Allen fought hard to challenge Aho but had to settle back into second as Hamel continued his charge forward, reclaiming third after passing Feeney.

Allen pulled off a perfectly executed crossover move on Aho to take the race lead, but Hamel wasn’t far behind. Anticipating more cautions, Hamel turned up the aggression, relentlessly pressuring Allen for the top spot. With 20 laps remaining, Hamel saw his chance, diving to the inside of Allen and making it stick. From there, he built a small but crucial gap, defending the lead through the closing laps to take his first win of the season.

Despite the early setback, Stout managed to grind out an eighth-place finish, extending his points lead to 41 over Rex Hoyle. Red Light Racing now turns its focus to South Boston Speedway next Thursday, March 6th. Catch all the action live at 7:55 PM ET, exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network!

The OBRL YesterYear Racing Cup Series stormed into Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, February 23rd, for Round 2 of Season 8. Hammerhead Racing’s Mark Fisch entered the night with a slim five-point lead over Darryl Wineinger in the standings, while M&M Motorsports’ Dave Matson secured the pole with a blistering 31.356-second lap.

The early stages of the race were chaotic, with multiple cautions shaking up the field and catching out strong contenders like Kevin Strandberg, who had been running well before trouble struck. With strategy thrown out the window, the race turned into a one-stop battle for fuel as long green-flag runs defined the second half of the night.

As the race settled in, the field largely ran single file, patiently clicking off laps while preparing for the final run to the checkered flag. The last round of pit stops wrapped up with 30 laps to go, putting Dan Hill at the front, leading a tightly packed group of teammates. Behind them, a larger group was pushing hard to close the four-second gap, but infighting and an inability to stay single file cost them any shot at contending for the win.

With the leaders maintaining a blistering pace, lap traffic became a serious obstacle. Hill, pushed by Team Miata’s Tom Ogle and Josh Robinson, sliced through the slower cars, working together to maintain their lead. As the laps dwindled, it was clear the win would come down to the final moments.

When the white flag waved, teamwork went out the window. Coming out of Turn 2, Hill reached a side-by-side battle between two lap cars, forcing him to make a bold move down the backstretch. He wedged his car between them to maintain his lead, holding off Ogle and Robinson in a thrilling final charge to the finish line.

With the victory, Hill locks himself into the season-ending Chase, while Robinson’s third-place finish was enough to propel him to the top of the standings, now holding a four-point lead over Ogle.

The Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Series stormed into Southern National Speedway for Round 8 of Season 38 on Saturday, February 22nd. Aiden Young entered the night with a seven-point lead over Donny Moore, with James Lowe also closing in.

Jeffery Hardin started on the pole, while Young rolled off from seventh and Moore from tenth. The night was filled with frequent cautions, but Hardin held control in the early laps. By lap 34, Young had chased him down and made his move, seizing the lead and never looking back.

Despite multiple restarts, Young remained untouchable, fending off challenges from Lowe, who used the cautions to climb through the field and claim second place by halfway. Lowe made several attempts to reel in Young but couldn’t find the momentum to complete a pass.

Young’s dominant victory further solidified his championship lead, now 15 points ahead of Lowe, who leapfrogged Moore for second in the standings. The BRL heads to Oswego Speedway next Saturday, March 1st, with the action going live at 7:40PM ET only on the Virtual Grip Network!

The OBRL presented by VCTRYLNSPRTS kicked off Season 8 of the YesterYear Racing Cup Series on Sunday, February 16th, with a thrilling opener at Daytona International Speedway. Bill Martin started on the pole, but it was Chris Bates who controlled the early laps as the 50-car field settled into formation.

Green flag pit stops began on lap 43, but the cycle was disrupted when Lee Worsdell got loose exiting pit road, triggering a multi-car wreck and bringing out the caution. The incident trapped some drivers off the lead lap while allowing others to pit under yellow without losing position.

As racing resumed, Tom Ogle led the charge with help from Dale Copeland. The field remained tight until a long green flag run eventually split the pack into smaller groups. Defending champion Josh Robinson took control of the race with help from his teammates, forming a seven-car breakaway out front.

A well-executed green flag pit cycle on lap 85 kept Robinson and company in control, while Bruce Pearson attempted to stretch his fuel in hopes of a caution. The strategy didn’t pan out, and Robinson reassumed the lead as Pearson was forced to pit in the closing laps.

Coming to the white flag, Jerry Isaacs made a move to the outside of Robinson, shuffling the leader out of position. Mark Fisch and Isaacs battled side-by-side through the final corner, but with a push from Copeland, Fisch edged ahead at the line to take the victory for Team Miata. Copeland finished second, with Isaacs rounding out the podium.

Outlaw Modified Series | Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

On Saturday, February 15th, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series rolled into Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for Round 7 of Season 38. Championship leader Aiden Young of Gambler Motorsports entered the night with a 10-point advantage over Thunder Ridge Racing’s Donny Moore, but lurking just 15 points back was BRL returnee James Lowe of Team Rocket Racing, quietly working his way into title contention.

Scott Negus led the field to the green from the pole alongside Bruce Pearson, and he wasted no time stretching out a lead while Moore made an aggressive charge from sixth to second within the opening 22 laps. From there, a long green flag run set in, and Moore’s early push quickly came back to haunt him as his pace started to drop.

Despite his fading speed, Moore refused to give up the second spot, forcing an increasingly frustrated line of drivers to stack up behind him. Stephen Spies made repeated attempts to pass but was turned away each time. As tensions rose, Todd Liston saw an opportunity, methodically climbing through the pack before making his move for third on lap 74.

With 10 laps remaining, Liston saw Moore’s defensive pattern and made a bold move—going even higher in the groove to sweep around the outside. Liston made it work, clearing Moore and pulling away with second place.

Negus, meanwhile, had been unchallenged up front, his lead hovering around one second for much of the race thanks to Moore’s blockade. Though Liston turned up the pace in the final laps, he ran out of time to close the gap as Scott Negus cruised across the line to take the checkered flag for Blue Oval Racing.

Moore’s defensive masterclass may not have earned him the win, but it did help him shave Young’s championship lead down to just seven points. Lowe also tightened the standings, now just 14 points out of the lead as the title battle intensifies in the second half of the season.
