BRL OUTLAWS S33 R3 Recap

13 October 2023
Bootleg Racing League | Season 33 | Round 3
Outlaw Modified Series | Southern National Speedway

In a thrilling night at Southern National Speedway, Aiden Young of Gambler Motorsports secured a well-earned victory in the Bootleg Racing League Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series. The race was filled with twists, turns, and a fair share of drama, making it a memorable evening for racing fans.

The race began with Lowell Jewell leading the pack from the pole position, while Aiden Young started from the 13th spot. Jewell enjoyed a strong start, leading the first 37 laps of the race, even surviving a couple of early restarts. However, his grasp on the lead was short-lived as Todd Liston managed to overtake him.

Liston’s opportunity came when Jewell encountered a slight hiccup, resulting in a loose moment that allowed Liston to pounce and secure the lead. The transition into the second half of the race marked a notable increase in on-track aggression, with multiple cautions and several short green flag runs.

Meanwhile, Aiden Young had been silently but persistently making his way to the front of the pack. His journey was guided by a combination of well-executed maneuvers and a bit of good fortune, avoiding potential incidents that claimed many other fast drivers during the night, including the points leader, James Tiernan.

As the laps dwindled down, Jeffrey Hardin joined the contest for the lead, and after a few laps of spirited back-and-forth action, he took control. Yet, his time in the lead was brief, as Liston swiftly reclaimed the top spot following another restart, with Young right on his heels, moving past Hardin into second place.

The real battle for the lead occurred on lap 79, as Young began to mount a charge on the outside of Liston. However, a caution interrupted their duel, allowing Liston to hold onto the lead. It wasn’t until lap 93 that Aiden Young managed to make another move, getting under Liston to seize the lead for good.

From there, Young maintained his composure and fended off Liston, ultimately clinching his first victory of the season. With this win, Young is now tied for the points lead with Tiernan as the series heads into the next round at Concord Speedway, scheduled for October 20th. PGRL S6 W6 Recap

10 October 2023
Pretty Good Racing League | Season 6 | Week 6
Premier Series | Texas Motor Speedway

Texas Motor Speedway hosted a spectacular doubleheader of racing as the Pretty Good Racing League unleashed the NASCAR Gen 4 stock cars for two 70-lap races in the much-anticipated MARSS Properties Texas Two-Step. The action was fast and fierce on the Lone Star State’s high-speed oval.

In the first race, it was Jeff Ward who had the honor of starting on the pole. Ward, however, quickly found himself under intense pressure from Saif Faries right from the green flag, with a hungry pack of racers nipping at their heels. As the race got underway, it seemed that Ward might be biding his time, allowing several competitors to slip by on the second lap, setting the stage for a captivating battle for the lead between Hardin and Faries.

The early excitement was soon tempered by an incident involving Drew White and Brian Yaczik, triggering the first caution just six laps into the race. After the restart, Ricky Hardin seized command, while Mike Rasimas, Jeff Ward, and Colton Salek held their ground, creating a gripping lead group. As the laps counted down, drivers began their pit stops for fresh tires and fuel, adopting a conservative two-stop strategy.

Through the pit cycle, Ryan Zima emerged as the man to beat. However, Zima’s strategy became evident to all as he opted for a daring one-stop approach, attempting to stretch his fuel farther than his competitors. Zima stayed out 15 laps longer than most of the field before pitting on lap 42, positioning himself to contend for the win.

In the final moments of the race, Colton Salek did his utmost to chase down Zima, but he couldn’t bridge the gap in time. Ryan Zima displayed strategic brilliance, securing his second victory of the season. With the field inverted for the second race, it was an entirely different challenge, one that rewarded Jeff Ward as he clinched victory.

For the second race, the field was inverted, with Isaiah Dupre securing pole position. Surprisingly, this race played out differently from the usual, featuring notably less aggression and fewer cautions. Jeff Ward seized the lead about 30 laps into the run and expertly kept his rivals at bay, even amidst green flag pit stops. The race concluded with Jeff Ward raising the checkered flag.

The current points leader, Johnathon Caddell, continues his reign, now with a 35-point lead over Michael Chrobok. Week 7 of the Pretty Good Racing League will unfold at Bristol Motor Speedway on October 17th. Tune in at 8:50 PM ET, exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network, for more high-speed action on the track.

The first caution of the race came on lap 14, and another followed on lap 21. Despite the cautions, Snyder and Stephen Spies managed to retain their positions at the front of the pack.

The race continued until lap 34, where another caution was waved. After the restart, a quick pileup occurred, but Snyder and Spies were back in the lead by lap 40. Spies then took the lead on lap 41. Bootleg Racing League | Season 33 | Round 2
Outlaw Modified Series | Hickory Motor Speedway

Hickory Motor Speedway played host to yet another thrilling installment of the Bootleg Racing League Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series, and it was James Tiernan with Elbows Up Simsport who emerged victorious, showcasing his formidable skills.

The evening’s racing action kicked off with Bobby Hayes leading the pack from the coveted pole position. However, Tiernan, starting from the ninth position, wasted no time making his presence felt on the track.

As the race got underway, it was Joe Segalla who seized the initiative, dethroning Hayes to claim the race lead. Yet, Segalla’s moment at the front was short-lived, as Bruce Pearson made a determined charge through the field, swiftly ascending to the lead and bringing Jeffery Hardin into the second position. Tiernan was already up to third place by this point, setting the stage for a thrilling battle.

Tiernan’s pace proved relentless as he quickly closed the gap on Pearson and executed a flawless maneuver to snatch the lead on lap 20. The dominance of Tiernan on the track was on full display, making it clear that challenging him was a daunting task.

The first caution of the night made an appearance on lap 35, reshuffling the field and inadvertently triggering a series of chaotic events that would punctuate the remainder of the race. Several drivers dialed up the aggression, leading to multiple collisions during short green flag runs towards the finish.

In the midst of this frenzied competition, Aiden Young began to make his presence felt, progressively working his way through the field from his sixth-place position. However, his charge was not without setbacks, as he ultimately lost the second position to Hardin on the final lap.

As the checkered flag waved, Tiernan stood unchallenged at the front, claiming yet another victory in his illustrious career. Pretty Good Racing League | Season 6 | Week 5
Premier Series | Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Las Vegas Motor Speedway played host to the Pretty Good Racing League’s latest racing spectacle, featuring two thrilling NASCAR Craftsman Trucks races in the MARSS Properties Vacation Rentals Voyage to Vegas.

In the first race, Scott Eckrich led the charge from the pole position, eager to prove his mettle on the famous Las Vegas track. Meanwhile, Colton Salek, starting in 14th place, wasted no time making audacious moves early in the race. Salek executed his strategy brilliantly, swiftly ascending through the field and positioning himself at the front of the pack.

Eckrich valiantly battled with Mike Rasimas to retain control of the race for the first half, with neither driver willing to yield. However, the course of the race was altered when a caution flag was unfurled. The caution was prompted by a collision between Adam Jurski and Thomas George on the front stretch, sending George into a spin and a hard impact with the outside wall.

The ensuing pit stops reshuffled the standings, pushing Eckrich far back in the field. Rasimas, now in the lead, faced relentless pressure from Salek as the race resumed. Another driver to capitalize on the situation was Michael Chrobok, who promptly overtook the front-runners to seize the lead. A fierce duel ensued between Chrobok and Ricky Hardin for the top spot, allowing Salek to lurk in third, waiting for the ideal moment to strike.

The opportune moment arrived in the final laps, as Salek masterfully maneuvered to claim the lead from Chrobok. With Chrobok and Hardin locked in their intense battle for second place, Salek capitalized and surged ahead, securing his fourth victory of the season in dramatic fashion.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the track lights illuminated the course, the stage was set for the second race of the night. Adam Jurski led the field to the green flag, launching another thrilling contest.

The second race of each evening in this season’s competition has consistently proven to be more aggressive, punctuated by frequent caution periods. Amidst the chaos, Mike Rasimas, who began the race in 30th place, quickly asserted his presence at the front of the field. In the latter part of the race, he engaged in a fierce battle for the lead with Gael Brooks and Travis McQuistion.

With the laps rapidly dwindling, Cody Dempser sought to join the lead battle, making a daring three-wide maneuver in the final laps. However, as the white flag waved, Rasimas had a firm grip on the lead, with McQuistion providing the necessary push to secure the checkered flag.

In the championship standings, Johnathon Caddell maintains his commanding lead, now sitting 76 points ahead of Chrobok. The action promises to intensify in the upcoming round at Texas Motor Speedway on October 10th, with all the excitement set to go live at 8:50 PM ET, exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network.

30 September 2023
Bootleg Racing League | Season 33 | Round 1
Outlaw Modified Series | New Smyrna Speedway

The Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw Modified Invitational Series roared back to life with an electrifying season opener at New Smyrna Speedway. In a thrilling showcase of speed and skill, James Tiernan, driving for Elbows Up Simport, emerged as the triumphant victor.

The stage was set for Tiernan’s triumph right from the beginning, as he secured the coveted pole position. With the anticipation building, he led a formidable field of 21 cars to the green flag, setting the tone for an action-packed evening.

However, the race wasn’t without its fair share of challenges. Frequent caution periods punctuated the event, preventing Tiernan from establishing an insurmountable lead. This allowed several skilled competitors to mount challenges and vie for the top spot.

One such contender was Aiden Young, whose performance was nothing short of remarkable. Operating quietly but strategically, Young worked his way up through the field, ultimately ascending to the second position on Lap 46. This progression wasn’t without drama, as contact occurred between Young and Bryan Dehn, causing both drivers to briefly spin out. Fortunately for Young, he was granted his rightful position behind Tiernan as they faced the green flag for the second half of the race.

With Young relentlessly pressuring Tiernan for the lead and frequent caution periods keeping the field closely bunched, the stage was set for a captivating battle. Despite Young’s valiant efforts, Tiernan displayed a commanding level of skill and consistency, maintaining his lead with unwavering determination.

As the laps dwindled, it became increasingly evident that Tiernan’s lead was secure. He continued to outpace the competition, ultimately proving to be untouchable throughout the night. The race unfolded in a manner consistent with Tiernan’s domination in the previous season, reinforcing his status as a formidable force in the Bootleg Racing League.

PGRL S6 W4 Recap

26 September 2023
Pretty Good Racing League | Season 6 | Week 4
Premier Series | Auto Club Speedway

In an evening characterized by foggy conditions and high humidity, the Pretty Good Racing League (PGRL) revved up the excitement with dual 40-lap races at Auto Club Speedway for the Route 66 Paint & Paper California Clash. Featuring the NASCAR Gen 4 stock cars, these races promised intense competition and thrilling action on the track.

The first race commenced with Jeff Ward from Loud Pedal Motorsports securing the pole position. As the green flag dropped, Ward immediately found himself locked in a fierce battle with Scott Eckrich for the lead. The duo showcased impressive pace, quickly distancing themselves from the pursuing pack led by Colton Salek and Michael Chrobok.

As laps ticked away, Ward’s superior speed became evident, allowing him to build a comfortable lead over his competitors. Ward’s strategic pit stop under green flag conditions on Lap 22, opting for fresh tires and fuel, provided a captivating twist. This pit strategy was an undercut attempt to gain an advantage over the rest of the field.

As the field cycled through their pit stops, Ward’s gamble paid off handsomely. He managed to re-emerge as the race leader with a commanding lead over Chrobok and Salek, a position he maintained with just 10 laps remaining. However, a late-race incident led to Ward taking the checkered flag under caution, concluding a mostly green-flag race on a somewhat unexpected note.

The second race of the night saw the field inverted from the previous round, placing Paul Pepper on the pole position. This race, in line with the season’s trend, proved to be more chaotic and aggressive as the faster drivers aggressively advanced through the field toward the front, resulting in early-race cautions.

Amid the chaos, Mike Rasimas engaged in a spirited battle with Colton Salek for the lead, with Salek managing to wrest control of the position on Lap 27. From that point onward, Salek displayed untouchable pace, steadily increasing his lead as the laps dwindled.

Rasimas, however, remained within striking distance of the lead in the final moments. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t quite close the gap sufficiently to mount a challenge, allowing Salek to cross the finish line and secure the checkered flag.

In the overall point standings, Johnathon Caddell continued to impress with consistently strong finishes, holding a 60-point lead over Ryan Zima as the season progressed. With the excitement and competition heating up, the next race is scheduled at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 3rd. Racing enthusiasts won’t want to miss a moment of the action, exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network, with the broadcast set to go live at 8:50 PM ET.

8th Annual BRL Shootout Recap

23 September 2023

Bootleg Racing League | 8th Annual Shoutout | Southern National Motorsports Park | Late Model Stock

BRL’s 29th Birthday

During the live qualifying round of the highly anticipated 8th annual Stone River Shootout, the skilled driver J R Shepherd impressively secured the pole position, with James Tiernan following closely behind in second place and Matt Hoose taking the third spot. The race started off with a thrilling burst of excitement as the top three drivers quickly fell into a single-file racing pattern. However, the high energy was quickly disrupted by a quick caution on lap two. Despite this, Shepherd managed to maintain his momentum and had a great start after the restart, with Hoose attempting to pass Tiernan but ultimately settling back into the original qualifying order. As the race progressed, most of the track soon settled into single-file racing by lap 12, with all drivers trying to preserve their tires for later in the race.

By lap 32, Shepherd and Tiernan had managed to establish a comfortable lead of two seconds over the rest of the pack, with both drivers racing within two-tenths of a second of each other since the last restart. This lead between the top two extended to an impressive three seconds by lap 46, before a caution was called. The race resumed on Lap 53, with Shepherd once again taking a great start, followed closely by Tiernan and Spies retaining his third spot. Despite a big wreck on lap 61 that brought the race to a short pause, Mark Hertzog made an impressive maneuver to avoid the crash. Lap 68 went green and the top three drivers remained the same, but another chain reaction wreck caused a slowdown. The green flag was thrown again at lap 73, with Spies attempting to pass Tiernan but ultimately coming up short. An uncalled caution caused some intense mix-up of cars briefly, but the top three remained the same. A caution was flown for an unrelated incident on lap 78, and racing resumed on lap 84. However, a caution quickly came out at lap 85 with some cars fighting over real estate. Racing resumed on lap 91, with Shepherd taking the lead and Spies trying to pass Tiernan but ultimately coming up short a second time. Shepherd powered through and ran strong to take the win and his 4th Shootout win, followed by Tiernan in second place and Spies in third.

Overall, both Shepherd and Tiernan managed to dominate the race, but Shepherd proved to be the ultimate victor due to his impressive speed and skill. Although the top three remained consistent throughout the race, the rest of the field had a more dynamic race with numerous cautions and intense battles for positions. Looking ahead, the next season starts on Friday, September 29, at New Smyrna Speedway with the return of the BRL original Friday night race of the Outlaw Modified Series for Round 1 of its 33rd season.

BRL Shootout Qualifier Recap

22 September 2023
Bootleg Racing League | 8th Annual Shootout
Skitter Creek Qualifier | Southern National Motorsports Park

In an exhilarating night of racing at Southern National Motorsports Park, Stephen Spies of Gambler Motorsports emerged victorious in the Skitter Creek Qualifier, presented by the Bootleg Racing League. The evening promised high-speed drama, with Nathan Guilford starting from pole position and Spies alongside on the front row.

As the green flag waved, Guilford made an impressive start, surging ahead of Spies. However, Spies refused to be left behind, keeping Guilford within his sights and searching for opportunities to overtake.

The race took a dramatic turn just four laps in, as Guilford’s car lost traction through Turn 4, causing him to make contact with Spies before spinning into the path of the oncoming pack. This early incident brought out the caution flag and led to Guilford’s unfortunate early retirement. Spies, while sustaining minor damage, managed to continue and now found himself in the lead.

When the race resumed on Lap 16, Spies lined up alongside Adam “Shoes” Schoen at the front. Meanwhile, John Wilson executed an impressive move to snatch second place from Schoen, with Bruce Pearson closely observing the battle from fourth.

As the laps rolled on, more seasoned contenders began their ascent through the field, positioning themselves for a shot at the lead. Mark Hertzog, displaying patience and strategy, held sixth place, waiting for opportune moments to make his move.

Spies, however, was determined to maintain his lead and proceeded to build a substantial gap between himself and the pursuing duo of Schoen and Wilson.

The race, unfortunately, witnessed frequent caution periods in the second half, with drivers navigating treacherous territory, making contact, and striving to secure a top-eight finish to qualify for the prestigious 8th Annual Stone River Shootout the following night.

Throughout these restarts, Hertzog showcased his prowess by steadily advancing through the field, ultimately challenging Schoen for the second position.

In the end, Stephen Spies proved untouchable, delivering a commanding performance as he triumphantly crossed the finish line. Hertzog secured second place, while Schoen secured the final spot on the podium.

With their top-eight finishes, these drivers earned the coveted opportunity to compete in the 8th Annual Stone River Shootout, scheduled for the following night, September 23rd. This special event will see them face off against former Bootleg Racing League champions, promising another evening of intense racing action. Racing enthusiasts can catch all the excitement exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network, with the broadcast set to go live at 8:55 PM ET.
