Brandyn Proudfoot with Jim Beaver eSports took his 4th checkered flag of the season tonight with the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series at Port Royal Speedway ahead of William Hargreaves and Hunter Hill. “I kind of just went with what I knew and instinct”, Proudfoot commented on knowing where to run on track as he slowly pushed further to the inside as the night went on.
Brandyn Proudfoot came into the night at the top of the timing and scoring boards with a fast lap at 22.790 in qualifying and taking the checkered flag in the first heat race of the night over William Hargreaves. Billy Northcutt took the second heat win for the night with Chris Davis taking the final transfer spot. Kevin Davis and J R Shepherd battled over the lead
Brandyn Proudfoot led the 16-car field to the green to the inside of Billy Northcutt as racing began for the 40-lap feature event with William Hargreaves starting in 3rd. Hargreaves made an attempt on the lead around the first lap but couldn’t clear Proudfoot slotting ahead of Northcutt in 2nd. Chris Davis was aggressively pushing forward overtaking Northcutt for 3rd place while Hargreaves and Proudfoot started to pull their battle away from the rest of the field. Northcutt was under pressure for 4th from Kevin Davis and Bobby Hayes challenging for the position 10 laps into the night.
Contact between Jason Menda and Billy Northcutt along the outside wall sent Northcutt up and over the wall in turn three ending his night early. Proudfoot and Hargreaves were battling side by side as Chris Davis got a nose into the fight, but contact was made, and Davis made hard contact with the inside wall and fell back to 8th place while Proudfoot and Hargreaves continued to battle over the lead. As the drivers passed the halfway point of the night, Proudfoot was able to break away from Hargreaves by a few car lengths while the two drivers were again separated from the rest of the field.
Hunter Hill was in 3rd with a sizable gap between himself and Bobby Hayes behind him going into the last 15 laps. Chris Davis had climbed back up into 6th place behind J R Shepherd from his incident earlier with the leaders and Proudfoot was slowly extending his lead out ahead of Hargreaves as the laps counted down. Proudfoot was able to maintain his line and stayed out of reach of Hargreaves as he took the checkered flag in the end with Hargreaves, Hunter Hill, Bobby Hayes, and Chris Davis rounding out the top 5 finishers tonight at Port Royal.
Brandyn Proudfoot maintains the lead in the point standings with 455 points. William Hargreaves moved up into 2nd place with 396 points with Billy Northcutt close behind in 3rd with 391 points. Jeffrey Hardin holds onto 4th place with 346 points and Hunter Hill up to 5th with 343 points. The drivers of the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series now set their sights toward Kokomo Speedway for race 7 of season 12 on August 5th with all of the dirt slinging action broadcast live at 7:10PM ET exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network!
