William Hargreaves with Dirt Panda took the checkered flag and the season championship tonight with the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series at Knoxville Raceway ahead of Adam Carlisle and Jason Best. “I was going for the win, I mean we’re here to race weekly and have a great time and this group of guys that we got, you get a lot of respect out of everybody and it just makes it so much more fun”, Hargreaves commented when asked if the championship was on his mind tonight, “We all show up to try to get that win, it was a lot of fun and [Carlisle] gave it everything he had.”
Adam Carlise sat on top of the timing and scoring boards in qualifying with a 4-lap average time of 22.668 followed closely by both Dirt Panda drivers, William Hargreaves and Billy Northcutt. Carlisle then dominated the first heat of the night and secured the pole position for the feature event later on. Hargreaves and Northcutt won their respective heat events and advanced directly to the feature while Chris Hill and Jeremy Akins took the checkered flag in the last chance qualifier rounds.
Carlisle had a good jump off the green flag to kick off the 40-lap feature event with Hargreaves challenging for the lead to his inside. Northcutt had a strong hold on 3rd ahead of Jason Best and J R Shepherd as Carlisle was able to utilize the momentum off the highline to clear ahead of Hargreaves. Northcutt tried to use the inside against Hargreaves but wasn’t able to complete the move slotting back into 3rd. Hargreaves got alongside Carlisle making another attempt for the lead running side by side for several laps before Hargreaves cleared ahead going into lap 12 as Northcutt got sent around bringing out the caution.
Chris Hill and Northcutt came together on corner entry creating a roadblock that collected multiple drivers and dropping Northcutt to the rear of the field as they lined back up for the restart. Hargreaves quickly secured the lead off the jump still running the lowline under Carlisle. Carlisle was committed to the outside line and was again using the momentum to get back alongside Hargreaves as Northcutt had more bad luck further back in the field getting collected in another incident.
Best caught the leaders and started challenging Hargreaves for 2nd place with Carlisle in control of the field going into the 2nd half of the night. Hargreaves again dove low and threw a slider on Carlisle but unable to clear with Best directly behind them waiting for an opportunity. The leaders were able to separate themselves from the rest of the field as the battle for 4th was a hornet’s nest of 7 cars weaving through each other and taking corners 4 wide with Chris Hill holding the position.
Going into the final 10 laps, Carlisle continued to lead with Hargreaves directly behind him. Hargreaves and Carlisle were throwing sliders back and forth until Hargreaves was able to hold Carlisle back. The white flag came out and Best tried to take 2nd place from Carlisle but couldn’t hold it coming out of the final corner as William Hargreaves took the checkered flag with Adam Carlisle, Jason Best, Chris Hill, and Zachary Loomis rounding out the top 5 tonight at Knoxville Raceway.
William Hargreaves took the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series Season 13 Championship tonight with 795 points ahead of Adam Carlisle. Billy Northcutt finished out the season in 3rd with J R Shepherd and Jason best rounding out the top 5 drivers. The drivers with the Bootleg Racing League will be back after the holidays for the season 14 opener at Lernerville Speedway on January 6th with all of the dirt slinging action broadcast live at 7:10PM ET exclusively on the Virtual Grip Network!
