Bootleg Racing League | Season 22 | Round 3
Super Late Model Series | USA Speedway
James Tiernan of Elbows Up Simsport delivered an impressive performance and claimed victory tonight at USA Speedway in the highly competitive Bootleg Racing League Super Late Model Series presented by Whiteriver LLC. The race began with Tom Hilbert leading the field from the pole position, while J R Shepherd started in seventh and James Tiernan found himself in the tenth spot alongside Aiden Young.
However, the opening lap brought about a major incident that involved multiple drivers, including Young and Tiernan. Unfortunately, Young’s car sustained irreparable damage, effectively ending his race, while Tiernan managed to make repairs and rejoin the track, determined to make a comeback. With Shepherd now leading the pack after the restart, he seized the opportunity to build a significant gap between himself and the pursuing drivers.
As the race progressed into its second half, Tiernan exhibited remarkable skill and resilience, steadily making his way through the field despite the damage to his car. With 70 laps remaining, Tiernan had closed the gap entirely, applying intense pressure on Shepherd for the lead. Sensing an opportunity to gain an advantage, Tiernan made a strategic decision to pit on lap 140, opting for fresh tires and fuel. Shepherd followed suit on the next lap but encountered a delay while exiting the pits, costing him valuable time before rejoining the race.
With the lead firmly in his grasp, Tiernan capitalized on his strategy and extended his advantage over the rest of the field. He navigated the remaining laps with confidence, ultimately crossing the finish line unchallenged and securing a well-deserved victory. Tiernan’s strong performance also solidified his position as the leader in the championship standings, with Shepherd trailing closely, a mere three points behind.
The excitement continues in the next round, scheduled to take place on July 21st at Stafford Motor Speedway. Be sure to tune in to the Virtual Grip Network at 8:10 PM to witness all the thrilling action unfold.
