PGRL S6 W25 Recap
02 April 2024
Pretty Good Racing League | Season 6 | Week 25
Premier Series | Kansas Speedway
On Tuesday, April 2nd, the Pretty Good Racing League (PGRL) roared into action with the inaugural event of their championship chase, the Look Ma, No Han(d)s 16 presented by Hans Wilsdork, featuring back-to-back 55-lap races at Kansas Speedway. The stage was set for intense battles among NASCAR Craftsman Trucks drivers eager to kickstart their championship campaigns.
The first race saw Michael Chrobok assert his dominance by securing the pole position. However, it was Jeff Ward who surged into the race lead in the opening laps, fending off challenges from Jordan Harnish and Cody Dempster. Chrobok, biding his time, strategically maneuvered through the field, positioning himself for a late-race charge.
As the pit window approached, Ward maintained his lead, but Chrobok and Scott Eckrich closed in, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown in the closing laps. Eckrich’s aggressive driving tactics led to a dramatic incident, ultimately ending the race under caution with Chrobok emerging victorious.
The field was then inverted for the second race, placing Harnish on pole position. Dempster wasted no time in seizing the lead, but Brian Yaczik and a charging Chrobok quickly emerged as contenders. A strategic caution allowed all drivers to pit for fuel and tires, reshuffling the field for the final stretch.
Despite Dempster briefly reclaiming the lead, tire wear issues plagued his efforts, allowing Chrobok to capitalize and make his move to the front. As the laps dwindled, Chrobok maintained his composure through a late-race caution, securing his second consecutive victory of the night and firmly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the championship chase.
With two wins under his belt, Chrobok catapulted to the top of the championship standings, holding a commanding 25-point lead over Matt Taylor. As the PGRL looks ahead to their next event at Darlington Raceway on Tuesday, April 9th, fans can expect more exhilarating racing action as drivers vie for supremacy on the historic track.
