On Friday, April 12th, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series roared into the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the highly anticipated third round of the season. Jeffery Hardin kicked off the night from the pole, setting the stage for an action-packed showdown as the sun set on Nashville.
As the green flag unfurled, Hardin surged ahead to seize the lead, while behind him, Joe Segalla and Lowell Jewell engaged in a fierce battle for the second spot. Segalla, determined to make his mark, challenged Jewell for position, but Jewell skillfully held his ground, utilizing the top line to secure his position.
Undeterred, Segalla launched another assault, this time on the high side, aiming to overtake Jewell. The Pretty Good Racing League (PGRL) delivered a thrilling doubleheader at Darlington Raceway for the second week of the playoff season, presenting The Joy of Driving at Darlington 200. Scott Eckrich kicked off the action by securing the pole position for the first race, setting the stage for an intense showdown.
As the green flag waved, Eckrich found himself under immediate pressure from Mike Rasimas in the opening laps. Despite Eckrich’s best efforts to defend his position, Rasimas managed to snatch the lead on lap 6, prompting Eckrich to shift his focus to conserving his equipment for the later stages of the race. Meanwhile, Michael Chrobok stayed within striking distance of Eckrich as Rasimas surged ahead at the front of the pack.
Opting for a two-stop strategy, the majority of the field split the race into thirds, making their pit stops around laps 25 and 50 for fuel and tires. Eckrich executed a strategic move to reclaim the lead from Rasimas on lap 21, just before the first pit cycle began. Chrobok, aiming to undercut Eckrich, led the charge down pit road but found himself unable to gain a significant advantage as Eckrich chased him down before the second pit cycle.
In the closing laps, Chrobok pushed hard to maintain his lead over Eckrich. However, Eckrich demonstrated his prowess, closing in on Chrobok’s rear bumper and ultimately reclaiming the lead with just five laps remaining. In the second race, with the finishing order inverted, Matt Taylor led the field from the pole position. On Friday night, the Bootleg Racing League’s Outlaw SK Modified Invitational Series hosted a thrilling 100-lap feature event, with Todd Liston leading the field to the green flag from the pole. Bruce Pearson secured the second position, as the leaders quickly broke away from the pack, which was embroiled in intense side-by-side battles.
Throughout the race, the close-quarters racing led to multiple caution periods, but Liston managed to maintain his lead during the opening stages. Pearson briefly lost the second position to Stephen Spies after one restart, but he managed to regain his position before Brennen Myers could capitalize. Despite Myers’ relentless attempts to overtake Pearson, he lost momentum and eventually fell victim to Matt Hoose, who moved into third place.
As the laps progressed, Hoose successfully made his way past Pearson to claim third, and a subsequent caution brought him back within striking distance of the leaders. When racing resumed, Hoose made a bold move to the inside of Spies, securing the second position. However, his fortunes took a turn for the worse approaching the halfway mark, as he lost traction and slid into the inside wall, relegating him to the rear of the field.
Liston continued to dominate the race until tragedy struck with just 17 laps remaining, as he lost control of his car, relinquishing the lead to Jason Menda. Menda capitalized on the opportunity, pulling away from the pursuing pack and ultimately crossing the finish line to claim victory.
The thrilling race showcased the skill and determination of the competitors, as they battled for position on the challenging track.
