Bootleg Racing League | Season 1 | Round 8
Dirt Super Late Model Series | Volusia Speedway Park

Thomas Vickers with Apex Industries took the checkered flag tonight in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Super Late Model Series ahead of Aiden Young and Stephen Spies. “Kept the racing clean and had some sliders and everything. It was a pretty fun race.”, Vickers commented as the night came to a close.

Jason Dill threw down the fastest lap in qualifying at 15.728 at the line claiming the front of the first heat of the night. Dill was able to take the checkered flag in the first heat while under pressure from John Heyn, Thomas Vickers dominated the remaining heat race by over 1 second ahead of the rest of the field, and Stephen Spies held off John Wilson to take the win in the B-Main Consolation race leading up to the 30-lap feature event.

Dill came around to take the green flag with Vickers to his outside. Dill had a strong launch off the start clearing out front, but Vickers stayed with him and dove low to get around the inside running side by side for several laps before conceding back into 2nd as John Heyn and Stephen Spies got involved. Vickers and Dill started swapping sliders over the lead with Dill maintaining the lead with the first 10 laps completed.

Aiden Young caught with Gambler Motorsports teammates in 3rd and 4th challenging Spies as the top 5 pulled away from the rest of the field. Vickers again tried going low under Dill but wasn’t able to make it work with Dill leading the field into the 2nd half of the night. Vickers was slowly getting a nose ahead of Dill still trying to use the low line taking the lead going into lap 19. Young was able to get ahead of Spies and started going after Heyn as the caution flag came out with 10 laps remaining.

Racing resumed with Vickers jumping out front and Heyn quickly jumped up into 2nd as Spies and Young tried to split the track around Dill but contact between Heyn and Spies sent Heyn around on track ending his run. With 8 laps to go, Vickers again took the green flag with Spies in 2nd place. Young instantly went after Dill taking away 3rd place and closed on Spies getting a nose ahead. Thomas Vickers came out of the final corner to take the checkered flag with Aiden Young, Stephen Spies, Jason Dill, and Michael Smith rounding out the top 5 tonight at Volusia Speedway Park.

Thomas Vickers and Jason Dill are now tied for the lead in the point standings now at 530 points each, 8 points ahead of William Hargreaves in 3rd place. Aiden Young sits in 4th with 451 points and Michael Smith rounds out the top 5 with 421 points. The Bootleg Racing League next heads to I-55 Raceway on March 3rd with all of the dirt slinging action brought to you live at 8:50PM ET only on the Virtual Grip Network!
