Chris Davis with Team CDR claimed his first win of the season tonight in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series at Volusia Speedway Park ahead of Jeffery Hardin and Chris Hill. “What I didn’t want to do was touch [Hardin] at all. He’s a very clean driver, he’s a good driver… At this track, it’s a lot about momentum. So, if I touched [Hardin] it would be bad for both of us.”, Davis took a moment to share with us at the end of the night, “I have to give my thanks to Menda because I saw him coming on the outside and that’s when I decided to take [the high line] and going up top is what worked.”

Jeffery Hardin with Loose Luggs sat at the top of the timing and scoring boards going into the evening with a fast lap put down at 19.856 taking the pole for the first heat. Under pressure from Chris Davis, Hardin was able to defend the lead taking the checkered flag and securing the pole for the feature event later that night. John Wilson took the remaining heat victory and Jason Menda beat Joey Brewer to the line to take the win in the B-Main consolation race leading into the 30-lap feature event.

Hardin led the field around to take the green flag opting to start from the outside line with Wilson on his inside. Hardin had a good jump, but Wilson was able to stay on the inside with Davis staying close to the battle waiting for an opportunity. Aiden Young was quickly climbing through the field closing on the leaders early in the run as Hardin and Wilson continued to run side by side with 5 laps completed.

Hardin was able to clear into the lead as Wilson found himself under pressure from Davis while the top 3 drivers started to separate themselves from the rest of the field. Menda had reeled Young in and was trying to get around the outside with Chris Hill and Bobby Hayes directly behind him battling over 6th. The leaders were running single file all within 0.5 seconds as they crossed into the 2nd half of the night with Davis keeping the pressure high on Hardin.

Menda cleared around Young into 4th and was gaining on the leaders with Hill, Young, Hayes, and Robby Robinson in tow behind him. Going into the final 10 laps, the top 8 were all running in close quarters with Davis looking to the inside of Hardin for the lead. As the laps quickly counted down, Davis changed up his line moving around to the outside of Hardin and was able to use the momentum to get alongside the leader with 3 laps to go. Coming out of the final corner, Chris Davis had jumped out ahead to take the checkered flag with Jeffery Hardin keeping a nose ahead of Chris Hill for 2nd. Jason Menda and John Wilson round out the top 5 tonight at Volusia Speedway Park.

Billy Northcutt holds onto the lead in the point standings with 497 points, now 36 points ahead of Hargreaves. Jason Best sits in 3rd place with 382 points as John Wilson moves up to 4th at 361 points, now tied with Chris Hill going into the next round of the season.
