William Hargreaves with the Dirt Panda racing team takes home his second win in a row tonight leading every lap in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series at Cedar Lake Speedway ahead of Shawn Hayes and Billy Northcutt. Brandyn Proudfoot seemed to struggle early on, starting in 14th, but found the speed later on as he climbed up to 5th at the end.

As the season is coming up on the halfway point next weekend, when asked if his focus is on the championship and are things starting to favor his way, Hargreaves commented, “I don’t know if I’d say that for sure. Anything can happen in a blink of an eye. We’ve all seen it week in and week out. I had a little bit of bad luck a few weeks back and now the last two weeks I’m the winner. It changes just that fast. I’m just honestly here to have fun. This is by far the best league I’ve ran in.”

With his win tonight, Hargreaves took the lead in the point standings with 366 points. Brandyn Proudfoot, who finished 5th tonight, moved back to 2nd place trailing behind the lead by 2 points. Northcutt holds onto 3rd place with 241 points. As the season moves on to the next round, it becomes clear that the battle for the championship is going to come down to one of these three drivers without a shocking upset to knock one of them out on contention before then.

Dirt Street Stock Series | Tulsa Chili Bowl

William Hargreaves with the Dirt Panda racing team took home his first win of the season tonight in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series 40 lap event at the Tulsa Chili Bowl holding off Brandyn Proudfoot and Carl Kilgore. The 24-car field had a hard time finding their way around the small track with caution after caution as the drivers quickly found themselves running out of room going into the turns. Strong restarts from Hargreaves and short green flag runs left Proudfoot with very few chances to challenge for the lead.

“I was just hanging on hoping that I would be the one to cross the finish line first.”, Hargreaves commented about tonight turning into a race of survival. Seeming to favor the high line, it worked out well for him as he led every lap. “On some of the restarts there I was kind of trying a few times a different line or two or whatever and as far as I saw there really was nothing anywhere else for me. [Kilgore] was running the bottom there looked like pretty decent. I just stuck with what was working.”

Hargreaves is now the fourth different winner of the season with only four races in. Proudfoot still holds the lead in the point standings, with a total of 305 points, ahead of Hargreaves with 282. Billy Northcutt fell back to 3rd place with 267 points after finishing in 9th tonight. Proudfoot has built a sizable gap between himself and his direct competitors, but his position in the standings is still within reach if his luck turns over the next few weeks.

Bootleg Racing League | Season 10 | Round 3
Dirt Street Stock Series | Volusia Speedway Park

Lon Franks claimed his first win of the season tonight in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series feature event at Volusia Speedway Park finishing ahead of Billy Northcutt and Brandyn Proudfoot. As with Jordan Gage at Eldora Speedway two weeks ago, Franks made himself known in his debut race by starting in 4th, getting control of the lead early, and holding off the likes of Proudfoot, Hargreaves, and Northcutt across the finish line.

“You could about go anywhere really, so I was just trying to stay smooth once I got the lead”, Franks commented on his win tonight. Franks is currently sitting in 17th in the point standings with a total of 81 points with this being his first race with the league, but he says that he’s not really focused on a championship at this time. “I’m just here for a good time. Whatever happens happens, you know. Run clean and fast and points will gather as they do.”

Joining the season after two races have already completed, Franks has an uphill battle to challenge for the championship at this point in the season. Proudfoot moved up into the lead currently with 225 points ahead of Northcutt by 14 points. Hargreaves dropped back to 3rd in the standings with a total of 198 points after a late race incident sent him to the back of the field. Gage is quickly falling out of contention with the championship early in the season after being involved in an incident that ended his night making for two bad weeks in a row for the driver.

Bootleg Racing League | Season 10 | Round 2
Dirt Street Stock Series | Weedsport Speedway

Brandyn Proudfoot of Jim Beaver eSports claimed his first win of the season tonight at Weedsport Speedway in the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock feature event ahead of William Hargreaves and Billy Northcutt. Proudfoot had to defend hard against Hargreaves and even lost the lead to him for a few laps midway through the feature as Hargreaves used lap traffic to his advantage. In an exciting last minute attempt, Proudfoot was able to regain the lead with only two laps to go and took home the checkered flag. Proudfoot seems to be off to more of an uncertain start in this season than what we’ve seen from him in previous seasons.

Jordan Gage, last week’s winner, started the night in 2nd place behind Proudfoot and was already challenging for the lead when technical issues took him out of the race going into the third turn on the first lap. That upset allowed Proudfoot to close up the gap in the point standings. Hargreaves now leads with 153 points, but Proudfoot is now trailing behind by only 2 points after tonight’s win. Northcutt is currently in 3rd with 131 points and Gage dropped back to 4th with 120 points.

“With the higher car counts, the track breakdowns, everything’s going to happen faster which means you have to figure it out quicker. If you start falling behind, you’re going to start dropping back quick even if you’re an experienced guy.”, Proudfoot talked with us about the challenges this season with the increased field size. “It’s all about getting your problem solving down, getting used to those tracks, learning the characteristics, and ultimately keeping up with that track breakdown.”

Bootleg Racing League | Season 10 | Round 1
Dirt Street Stock Series | Eldora Speedway

Jordan Gage with the Dirt Panda Racing Team took the checkered flag in his debut race for the season opener of the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series at Eldora Speedway beating out Cruise Caudell and Shaun Hayes. Gage controlled the field tonight with grace pulling away by almost an entire second at one point in the race. Gage is just one of an influx of new drivers to the series this season that shook up the usual field as many familiar names went home early after not making it to the feature event.

Brandyn Proudfoot and Billy Northcutt battled each other hard through the last season for Proudfoot to earn the championship title. This season is shaping up to be a very different story altogether as Proudfoot finished in 5th, behind William Hargreaves in 4th, after a fierce battle across the entire field tonight. Gage made a loud statement along with several other new drivers in the Bootleg Racing League that they are a force to be reckoned with. If Gage is the new driver to beat this season remains to be seen as we look toward Weedsport Speedway next weekend.

“If you weren’t up top, you know, banging on the cushion, you weren’t going anywhere”, Gage commented after his flag to flag victory. Staying focused on hitting his marks and running his line, Gage was able to hold the lead uncontested ahead of league favorites such as Northcutt, Proudfoot, and Hargreaves. “Just ran up there and if the slider ever came we were ready for it, but we seemed pretty untouched.”

Bootleg Racing League | Season 9 | Round 11
Dirt Street Stock Series | Volusia Speedway Park

Brandyn Proudfoot of Jim Beaver eSports walked away tonight with the checkered flag and the season championship from the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock season finale at Volusia Speedway Park finishing ahead of Jim Reavis and J R Shepherd. Proudfoot struggled early in the evening to find his groove qualifying 5th and losing to Reavis in his heat race. Starting in 5th for the feature event, Proudfoot didn’t secure the lead position until halfway through the race and was never able to pull away from the field as he has been known to do once out front.

Going into the evenings event, Billy Northcutt was holding onto the lead in the point standings ahead of Proudfoot by 3 points. The two drivers stayed near each other on track keeping the pressure high as whichever driver finish ahead of the other would have become the season champion. Unfortunately, in a surprise upset, Northcutt was involved in an incident with only 5 laps remaining that ended his night after a long, hard fought season against Proudfoot. A disappointing end to an epic championship battle between these two drivers.

“Jim [Reavis] was right on me, as soon as I got out front and he seen what line I was running”, Brandyn Proudfoot told us about fighting for the lead. “I tried going everywhere in [turns] three and four. I tried the bottom. I tried the top, that just about killed me. It’s like I said in the beginning about saving those tires, I used them about seven laps early and I was able to use them to get in front of him, but by no means was I getting away.”

Bootleg Racing League | Season 9 | Round 10
Dirt Street Stock Series | Limaland Motorsports Park

Brandyn Proudfoot of Jim Beaver eSports dominated the field at the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series event at Limaland Motorsports Park ahead of Eli Shaffer and Jim Reavis taking home the checkered flag for the seventh time this season. A string of cautions kept the 18 drivers battling close to each other throughout the 40 laps at this tight track, but Proudfoot had the speed where it counted after each restart and lead every lap to victory lane.

Although this win closed the gap in the point standings, it wasn’t enough to secure Proudfoot the lead. Billy Northcutt still holds the top spot by only 3 points going into the last race of the season. With a points race this close, the championship will come down to which ever driver finishes ahead of the other regardless of whether or not either of them is the race winner next weekend.

Proudfoot and Northcutt now set their sights to Volusia Speedway Park for their final battle of the season. “It depends on how it breaks down”, Proudfoot explains to us about his chances of taking the championship. “[I] definitely think it’s going to be interesting. I know, at least from a track experience stand point, whenever it gets super slick like this I think [Northcutt] and [Hargreaves] will have an edge on me… they have a track break down fresh in their minds.”

The only thing certain at this point is that Volusia is going to be one exciting race.

Bootleg Racing League | Season 9 | Round 9
Dirt Street Stock Series | Dirt Track at Charlotte

Brandyn Proudfoot brought the Jim Beaver eSports street stock to victory lane after a hard fought battle against William Hargreaves and Billy Northcutt at the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock feature event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. The night’s race was more chaotic than usual as several cautions kept the battle up front intense through tight restarts and many opportunities to challenge Proudfoot for the lead.

With his sixth win of the season, Proudfoot is still in 2nd place in the point standings behind Billy Northcutt by 18 points after missing last week’s race. Hargreaves holds onto 3rd place and J R Shepherd took 4th place away from Jason Best who dropped back to 5th. At this point in the season with only two events remaining the season championship is shaping up to be an epic two way battle between Northcutt and Proudfoot heading to Limaland Motorsports Park and finally concluding at Volusia Speedway Park. This is the closest points battle the dirt racers of BRL have seen in a long time.

Never able to shake Northcutt and Hargreaves, Proudfoot is always conscious of his competition. “It’s always in your mind when you’re in the lead that you gotta be careful who’s coming behind you. Definitely hearing the engines a little bit made me worry” Looking forward to the final two events, Proudfoot still maintains his usual easy going attitude telling us, “I’m just happy to race here with the guys. Does it make it exciting that I missed a race and the points race is very close, closest that it’s been in a few seasons? Absolutely. But it’s honestly just about coming back and trying to make every race that I can and racing with the guys. That’s all there is to it.”

Dirt Street Stock Series | Lanier National Speedway

Billy Northcutt with the Dirt Panda Racing Team dominated the field tonight and claimed his first win of the season at the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock 40 lap feature event at Lanier National Speedway ahead of his teammate William Hargreaves and Jim Reavis. “I came out into this race just hoping to have a good race”, Northcutt told us as he feels that he is finally coming out of a string of unfortunate luck that has been following his team this season.

Brandyn Proudfoot did not get on track in time to compete and that severely shook up the top 5 in the points standings. Northcutt moved up to 1st ahead of Proudfoot with a gap of 31 points. Hargreaves, who finished the race in 2nd place, moves up to 3rd in the points and closes the gap to the lead making the championship battle a three way battle. Jason Best moves up into 4th as Johnny Ratley dropped back as he didn’t run for the second week in a row, essentially taking himself out of the championship competition.

“I came in with pretty good confidence. I had a teammate behind me and a little bit of a lead stretched out there. [There] Wasn’t a ton of cautions, so I was able to just drive my race like it was an afternoon out on the road.”, Northcutt joked. “There [were] no lap cars to deal with, it was about the easiest drive you can hope for as a leader in a race.”

Bootleg Racing League | Season 9 | Round 7
Dirt Street Stock Series | Fairbury Speedway

William Hargreaves with the Dirt Panda Racing Team takes home their first win of the season ahead of Brandyn Proudfoot and Billy Northcutt at the Bootleg Racing League Dirt Street Stock Series feature event at Fairbury Speedway. J R Shepherd made a strong run early in the race with a great pace and staying with the front until unfortunate contact with Proudfoot sent him spinning into the infield. Proudfoot seemed to struggle early on finding his groove, but was able to make his way through the field and pressure Hargreaves for the lead coming across the finish line.

Proudfoot continues to gap the other drivers in the point standings now with 546 points putting him 53 points ahead of Billy Northcutt. Johnny Ratley, who did not race in this event, moved down to third in the standings now 113 points behind Proudfoot. Hargreaves holds onto 5th place trailing behind by 148 points. Simply winning more races won’t be enough to close the gap for Hargreaves. He’ll have to hope for some upsets in the field if he wants to challenge Proudfoot for the championship in the end.

“Once I got the lead it was pretty simple, just kind of lay back and do your thing and kind of keep hitting your marks until you feel some pressure.”, Hargreaves commented about holding control of the lead after a restart on lap 14 shook up the order up front. “Proudfoot, he had my heart thumping there at the end. I was able to ride so long there doing my own thing. He came on strong and got me going for sure, I thought he was going to get me.”
